Freedom Clothing Collective Vignette - Spring edition

Freedom Clothing - Spring 2012 from Freedom Clothing Collective on Vimeo.

Thanks to the ladies at Freedom Clothing Collective for including my tote bag in their latest vignette! (Tote can be found at the Freedom store in Toronto.)

The video is too cute for words. Just watch as these clothes dress and undress this model.

Bright Pinks and Sunny Yellows and Gold

This is what experimenting looks like. Yellow and bright pink fabric paint are pulled across an acetate stencil (attached to a screen) with a textile squeegee.

The inspiration: I use yellow screen printing tape to protect my frames from water and paint. Printing with only yellow seemed a little boring so pink was added to the mix.

The pulling of the two colours makes an exciting combination. I love how it starts with the clear separation of yellow and pink and then moves to sunny yellows and oranges on the other side of the fabric, when the colours have been pulled more.

The lining consists of bright pink crosses screen printed on cotton twill. It keeps the geometric and bright coloured theme from the exterior of the pouch, yet varies enough to act as a little surprise every time the pouch is opened.

Geoff says this is his favorite print to date. He's requested I make him a travel bag with blues and greys streaked across the screen as per the above. I'll be sure to post it once it's complete.

Totes & the Classics

Where: Nathalie & Geoff's bedroom.
When: Earlier this evening.
Why: Mini photo shoot, promoting our handmade, hand printed canvas tote bags. Shot just before the sun went down.

I'm really happy with the way it came out. And - I was excited to use my collection of Penguin classics as props.
(Which, in case you are wondering, I do read.)

Break Week, Day 1

Diana, 1/2 of The Lime Shop, at Canzine

Last night marked our first Canzine in four years and it was excellent to be back. Thanks to everyone who came by to say hi.

It's always inspiring to attend Canzine because of all the talented and ambitious artists just doing what they love. If you've never been to this event, try to go next year. It always rolls around at the end of October.

Now post Canzine and before our next event, SpeakEasy, I'm taking a much needed break to relax and recharge. First on my agenda, opening up my eyes to what's going on in the world of design.

Totes and Ducks

The weather's been so lovely, that I couldn't help but shoot the latest Lime Shop items on my patio. I've loaded 3 totes on our etsy shop, with more to come soon.

In between takes, I wandered to the front of the house, to see two visitors - ducks! This is the first time we've ever seen ducks wandering in our neighbourhood. What a nice surprise.

Need a Tote?

A friend commissioned me last week to make a special tote bag for his mum on Mother's Day. Wish I had made a pattern since it was a pretty solid bag. Apparently, she really liked it, but said it could do with some pockets. I'll keep it in mind for next time!
